Conversation. Yep, that's what I said. The old act of just plain ole talking. Who said conversation was overrated?
How many of you really practice the art of conversation? I mean those deep conversations where you find out all of your mans thoughts, and he finds out yours. Those conversations that you all had when you were just courting. Set the mood by lighting candles, buy a nice wine, have your favorite food, no t.v., maybe a little mood music, but no other distractions. And talk the night away.
If you need help, start with a list of 20 questions. They could be funny questions, or serious questions. Create a game that you can play by placing the questions in a hat and you each choose one to ask the other. Do that until you run out of them, and then go from there. Or use our old new friend the Internet. I'm sure there is something out there to use as a getting to know you tool.
We all know that people change over time, and their experiences may alter their opinion about things. Ask your man what makes him tick. Ask him about his dreams and goals. Ask him what he wanted to be as a child. Don't just ask these things though unless you are genuinely interested in knowing your man. But when you ask, make sure you actively listen. He may have had some things change in his life that he really needs to express. Be that woman that Alicia Keys sings about, that woman who can be a page of his diary.
After getting to know each other again, you all can tell each other what you love about the other. Whisper sweet nothings to each other. Share funny stories, whatever comes to mind. Encourage him in his dreams. Tell him how proud you are of him. Genuinely express how you feel. But remember to keep the conversation going.
The act of conversation is not overrated, but the act of just talking is. Make this Valentine's night a night that you both will never forget. You may be surprised at what you'll find out about each other. You might truly find that you can fall in love all over again.
