Back in February I posted about the Sundance Winner “Push”…The name has been changed to “Precious” but the results will remain the same. This movie took home the Grand Jury and Audience prizes at the festival and is the most anticipated film of the fall.
Check out the trailer:

This amazing movie has now been backed by Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry and directed by Lee Daniels best known for “Monster’s Ball”. Mo’Nique and Mariah Carey both received amazing reviews for portraying characters that are outside their professional scope. But it is new comer Gabourey “Gabby’ Sidibe that steals the movie as the main character Clarice “Precious” Jones. The movie, much like the book, is told in first person about this inner-city teen that faces physical and sexual abuse by parents, teased by peers, a mother of two, and has low self-esteem but finds hope and love when odds are against her in an alternative school where her teacher, played by Paula Patton, teaches her to love herself and let it be known she is worthy of love from others.

The movie feature stars Mo’Nique, Mariah Carey, Even Ross, Lenny Kravitz, Sherri Shepherd, and introducing Gabourey Sidibe.

The movie should hit theaters this fall, but until then check out the book PUSH by Sapphire if you haven't already.
